Riddarholmen

Riddarholmen is one of the islands that Stockholm was built on. It´s also one of few islands in the city where noone lives anymore. The old buildings and palaces are now full of courts, administrative authorities and archives. From a distance it looks so alive and cosy, but once the civil servants, clerks and tourists disappear in the evenings, Riddarholmen turns into an empty and deserted place. A sad destiny for a beautiful place that´s been full of life since the seventeenth century...

Lamy Safari, Noodler´s ink and watercolors on a page in a large Moleskine Watercolor.

beautiful, i love it! and the history to go w/ it makes it so much more interesting. i agree, though, that it's sad for such a beautiful place to be deserted at nights instead of alive w/ people and guests.

A wonderful sketch - beautiful buildings! I fondly remember our days on Gamla Stan during midsummer's eve week. I love your architectural drawings!

Beautiful! From the water to the clouds in the sky. And you avoided all the potential tackiness of some city landscapes. Wow.

It must be a beautiful city, at least it looks beautiful when you draw it!

How pretty you've made this city look. The colors, the details. You've made us all see it as an inviting place.

What a gorgeous fairy tale land! I'm realizing what I've missed never traveling to Europe or your part of the world. I've never been outside North and Central America (except for Hawaii). Someday....

Simple strokes, beautiful and outstanding!!!!!! Your paintings look detailed even though your strokes are very simple. You must be pleased.

It has been a while since I have been to your blog. I am drawn to your landscapes each time. I love your other subjects as well, but the landscapes always capture me. Would love to see a full size one day.
