A little time off

I´ve been off for a while, spending two weeks with near and dear ones in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. Happily surprised over all that this fantastic town and the countryside around it had to offer, I have been spending time drawing and painting almost every day. This vacation has meant a welcome pause from the cold and grey winter we´ve been having in Stockholm.

Also, during these two weeks, my maths-teacher hate-to-draw can´t-even-draw-a-stick-figure mum finally picked up a pencil and a piece of paper and surrendered to my persuasive talk about how fun it is to draw. She actually let me give her some drawing lessons, and you know what? She enjoyed it! I knew she would.

Wahoo, and welcome back, you were missed! (Looks like a marvelous time, though, and I love your sketch!)

Good for you, and good for your mom, by the way!

If this is just a hint at what you did while relaxing, I'm very eager to see the rest! You did an excellent job with this - great color and wonderful composition. How fun to get your mum to finally "see the light :)

Very nice. Gentle but vibrant colors. Violet shadows on the warm sand. Looks like a warm place. What fun.

I plan to hit 3 spots, God willing, in June--Colorado (Stephen Quiller workshop), SanFrancisco (Road Trip sketching workshop, hopefully with Marth of Trumpetvine.com) and then Kings Canyon National Park for a couple days.

Gorgeous painting - and wonderful to hear that you've got your mum in on drawing too. Last christmas my boyfriend managed to get my mum to join him as he was following "Drawing on the right side of the brain". It was really nice to see her having a go at something she generally leaves to the "young ones" ...
