Some fast sketches

I haven´t had time to post lately, because of the workload at the end of the spring semester. Now, on the other hand, there is no more work until mid August. Sometimes I love my job! :)

I have done a few quickies though, trying to live by the wisdom I gained from the Everyday in May challenge - it is ALWAYS possible to find a little time for drawing, even if you are busy. The top one is not really finished, and I will not finish it, but I think it turned out ok anyway. I have been wanting to draw this part of Stockholm for a long time, and I will probably go back there and draw some more, I only caught about half of the view I had from where I was sitting.

Been making a new sketchbook too, the one I had just started drawing in fell apart - my own fault, I did a lousy job trying to save a book that wasn´t too good to begin with - so now I have the great pleasure to start on a new book again! :)

Apart from drawing, these first few days of my vacation will be spent on screen printing, we´ll see what comes out of that.

The big drawing is 18 x 15 cm, the others about half that size. Lamy Safari, Noodler´s Lexington grey and watercolours in a now fallen apart sketchbook.

No eye candy from you for ten days! I was beginning to worry, but it's great to see a new post with your wonderful sketches. Looking forward to many more during your vacation.

Nina, your drawings of Stockholm make me wish my husband had reason to go there for his meetings, so I could go too. Ah well, maybe some day I'll get there. In the meantime I love all your drawings!

I'm always excited when you post new stuff, and these are all wonderful as usual but I absolutely LOVE that street light. There is just something about it... just beautiful.

I really like paintings that are a little bit unfinished, especially in journals...so, the one on top is my favorite :)
But they are all gorgeous, as usual!

Hi Nina - wow! Some more beautiful views of Stockholm. I always love your drawings and these are no exception. It is hard to believe these are 'quickies' though, they are so beautifully drawn and full of detail.

Love the top image - really nicely drawn! Doesn't hurt that it is not "finished." How long do you spend on something like that - I find it takes me quite a while to get the perspective(s) right!

I perused your site when I first ventured into the EDM group and was so impressed with the entire body of your work, esp. the architectural sketches; so, this set is particularly gratifying to look at.
I also read-with interest-your discussions on technique and materials. Thanks.

Nice work, Nina, as always. I seem to recall that you like cityscapes, and you are certainly "in your element" there, meaning you seem to have a intuitive feel for the city. Urban areas certainly have their stories to tell.
(I'm back from Colorado and a color workshop with Stephen Quiller, off to San Francisco, about 500 miles to the North, tomorrow, for some city drawing of my own and for a workshop called RoadTrip.)
