Hötorgscity

I finally got around to drawing this place - Hötorgscity in Stockholm, with the five skyscrapers and the fountain. This is the heart of the city, the shopping streets are centered around these blocks, and the Central Station is not far away.

If you are looking for city pulse, street performers, fashion shops and excitement, this is the place to be. For cozy cafés and warm atmosphere I would probably go somewhere else.

28 x 20 cm, pencil, Copic Multiliner SP and watercolours on Moleskine Watercolor Folio page.

I'm very impressed with your handling of those mirror-like windows! Well done, all around.

Lovely watercolour! I really like how you did the water in the fountain, and the reflections in the glass facade.
I'm sure you're right about how people would react if the buildings were threatened - most people resist any kind of change to their known neighbourhood! :)

You must have the patience of a saint to do all those windows! It's a wonderful painting of a great-sounding city. nancy

Wow, such detail and so many different textures in one painting. I love how you captured it all

That view looks incredibly difficult to capture and yet you've done it and made it look simple, stylish and effortless! The details could have so easily overwhelmed the whole thing.

Wonderful! Is that Sveavagen going off to the upper right?

Nina Johansson said...

@Linda T: Yes, it is Sveavägen. You know your way around town! :)

I want to let Felicity speak for me. Awesome painting! Love the reflection of the facing structure hinted in the windows of the first-of-the-five stacked buildings.
