Quick life drawing

Went to this year´s first life drawing session a few days ago. Funny how fast you forget how to draw the human body if you don´t do it all the time - from the beginning of the session I felt as though I had NEVER drawn a human being before. This is a quick sketch done about an hour into the session, and I was beginning to loosen up a bit, which always makes for better results. I drew mostly with pencil in a big drawing pad, but this little drawing was made in my regular sketchbook, with the Lamy and a waterbrush filled with very diluted Noodler´s ink. I can never squeeze in the whole body on such a small surface, so I just went for the upper half.

I wouldn't mind doing that well, with or without recent figure practice. I have never taken a life drawing class or group. Maybe one of these days. It could be a little embarrassing!:)

Nina,
Wow! He's quite gorgeous - and your figure drawing is an inspiration to me.

Wonderful work! I really like how you made HIS right hand detailed and the other hand with less finger detail. Small touches like that just make a drawing. Great modelling of the trunk, too -- you got the nuances of his posture just right!

I'm amazed you can get so much personality with pen! His expression is great, and with so few lines!

hi Nina, many thanks for your recent comment :)

I've just recently joined a figure drawing group too, it is the most frustrating fun! I find my line is very tight and self conscious even after a few sessions now, you have such a relaxed easy line with this drawing, it seems so comfortable and confident that it doesn't look like you've been away from life drawing at all, really nice proportions too.
