Hus 42

On the island where we have our summer house, everyone introduces themselves to new people with the house number: "Hi, my name is this´n´that, house 42". That´s funny, it´s as if that number is part of one´s identity there. I´d never introduce myself that way at home, with my name and address. The house number is almost like a membership id, and if someone else too introduces himself with a house number, you know that oh, he´s one of us. No further explanations needed. Sort of like a secret hand shake.

Excellent! I am sketchbook focused at the moment so I can appreciate the leap to paper. I just feel so free and safe in my sketchbook, but you inspire me to get out the big-girl paper ... soon, soon, I'll do it!

Love the shadows against the beautiful bright red house. Are all the houses so colorful? What a neat place to be. It looks wonderful.

Wonderful window! And great drops of color! Do you always make little palettes only when you show them here? :)

Nina, I just found your beautiful blog. What exceptional drawings and watercolors. I can't believe all this gorgeous artwork is sitting in a book, closed up.I will check back to see more of your work and to read the interesting stories.

that is funny--love this watercolor!! Some places have names for their homes--my relatives were the "Stenslands," and they called their home"Stenhaven." I always liked that. Numbers, though--that's different--kind of fun.
